Urban Development Partners LLC was formed in 2012 to serve as a full-service real estate company. Its origins started with Trevor Vaughan, who saw the vision and opportunity to revitalize urban neighborhoods and create win-win propositions for all stakeholders
Chronologically, in 2002, Craig Sawyer established Equitable Development Consultants, LLP to focus on the development of market-driven, economic development projects in urban markets. The mission was to assist community-based organizations and institutions to create economic opportunities and embrace community-based economic development principles and outcomes in the process. This mission was seeded on a firm commitment toward building strong community economies as well as creating opportunities for all community stakeholders.
Toward this end, Equitable Development Consultants provided consultation and training services to Community Development Corporations (CDCs), for-profit developers, community-based institutions, merchants associations, governmental agencies and other community stakeholders with the planning and implementation of various economic, business and real estate development projects and initiatives.
Independently, HDS Home & Design, LLC was formed by Trevor Vaughan in 2005, as a general construction company in New York and New Jersey to acquire, renovate and construct affordable and market-rate residential and commercial properties for its own portfolio and others. The company’s mission was to stabilize depressed neighborhoods by rehabbing houses and creating affordable housing units, along with turning vacant lots and wasted spaces into useful commercial ventures.
HDS Home & Design grew from a one-man shop to a full-time staff and team of experienced tradesmen and subcontractors in the development and construction of residential and commercial establishments. The company’s client list ranges from proud homeowners to who’s who in the entertainment industry.
With faith and hard work, the two companies’ client base grew numerically and geographically. To broaden capacity and improve service, both companies continue to identify new strategic partnerships and alliances and expand corporate services. Trevor expanded into construction management and property management; and under the auspices of his broker, Craig expanded into site assemblage and leasing services.
In 2017, Trevor and Craig decided to team up to crystalize the vision of neighborhood revitalization and the development of win-win proposition for all stakeholders through developing, constructing, and rehabbing residential, commercial and mixed-use properties and managing these assets for maximum value. This is accomplished through our steadfast commitment to a simple philosophy –sustaining a genuine relationship with our development partners, investors, clients, employees, and community partners through mutual interest, outstanding service, and shared success.

In 2015, the principals of Equitable Development Consultants, LLP and HDS Home & Design, LLC merged to create Urban Development Partners, LLC, with two distinct lines of business: Developing, constructing and rehabbing residential, commercial and mixed-use properties; and Providing Owner’s Representative and development services for clients’ real estate portfolio.

Trevor is the President and Chief Executive Officer at Urban Development Partners LLC, and President of HDS Home & Design, L.LC.
Trevor is responsible for the overall project development and execution of the overall strategic vision and direction of the company. In addition, he is involved in the oversight of the daily operations of the company, including quality control compliance, and ensures projects are delivered on time and within budget. Trevor’s expertise is found in his ability to manage and complete projects for maximum value.
Trevor, is a licensed, insured and bonded general contractor in New York and New Jersey. He has acquired, renovated and constructed affordable and market-rate residential and commercial properties totaling over $45 million.
Trevor Vaughan’s personal mission is to stabilize depressed neighborhoods by rehabilitating blighted properties and creating affordable and market-rate housing units. Trevor also has a vision and passion for bring communities and businesses to life through transforming vacant lots and underutilized spaces into inviting residential and commercial assets. In addition, Trevor mentors and encourages entrepreneurship in at-risk youth, and participates in activities at Christ Church in Montclair, NJ.
Craig serves as the Chief Operating Officer at Urban Development Partners LLC, and Managing Partner at Equitable Development Consultants, LLP.
Craig’s oversees land and property acquisition, due diligence, entitlements and project finance. He specializes in project conceptualization to create equitable redevelopment. Craig’s expertise is realized in his ability to transform a concept into a financially viable project and his ability to shepherd the project through the planning and development process. His efforts have helped to secure over $130 million in funding for various real estate development projects and initiatives.
Through his various professional roles, Craig has more than 20 years of project management experience in economic and real estate development. Craig holds several professional licenses and certifications and serves as the lead agent for the Urban Development Partners’ Real Estate Sales Team at Private Client Advisors. He also attended Rider College for his Bachelor of Science degree and Rutgers University’s Graduate School of Management for his MBA degree.
Craig serves as a youth entrepreneurship instructor, and serves as the Lead Trainer for the New Jersey Redevelopment Authority’s Redevelopment Training Institute. He is a member of several civic, community, and professional organizations, and he serves on the board of HANDS, Inc. and the Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey.
Christina has several years of architectural design experience under licensed architectural firms. She is seasoned in architectural site planning, zoning analysis and building code requirements. She is responsible for helping to conceptualize all project schematically.
Jr. Business Development Officer
Richard Everhardt Groves Jr., Business Development Officer Richard has over twenty years of experience in sales, marketing and business development, in addition to real-estate rehabbing and construction. He is responsible for identifying business and strategic partners and real estate development opportunities, and coordinating initiatives and activities that help builds a real-estate model of inclusion.
